In response to the tragedy of the Aurora Colorado shootings a local comic book store ALL C’s Collectibles is hosting a Benefit Event for the victims and their families. I can’t attend the event but I asked them if I could donate some books and art to include in their silent auction. I created this poster in honor of three individuals who gave their lives protecting their loved ones. According to news reports Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn, and Alex Teves died shielding their girlfriends from the gun fire. To be sure their actions are not the only examples of bravery and selflessness to come out of that horrific event but their story touched me and I wanted to do something to honor their memory. I wanted to post an update about my attendance at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. I will be attending the show but unfortunately not in the same location as before. Due to SDCC’s application process I wasn’t approved for a small press table as I have been in years past. Instead of ranting here about my disappointment I’m going to make lemonade out of lemons and move on. My friends at Cartoonists Across America have graciously offered to share their table with me in the illustrator’s section on the show floor. So please come visit us at table #5554 this year.
