In honor of the Season 4 Finale of ABC’s Castle I present my latest illustration “Murder, He Wrote.” Castle is one of my favorite TV shows and I thought it appropriate to create a tribute poster for it. I hope Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic like it.

Patrick’s Tale- An Unexpected Journey Into Cartooning

It’s hard to believe but Super Siblings is turning four years old this month. It has been quite a “Journey” (to borrow a phrase from the new Hobbit movie) in creating, writing, drawing and promoting the strip. What started as a kernel of an idea has germinated into a fully formed comic strip and comic book series culminating in the publication of the first graphic novel edition that is now available for purchase. Thank you to everyone that has been there supporting me all along and to our new friends just joining us. Rest assured that Super Siblings is here to stay. In fact after a few months of planning I’m happy to announce that Super Siblings will add an additional comic strip each week. Starting in the next few weeks the webcomic will now post Mondays and Thursdays. I am also hoping to post new comic book story pages on Fridays. This is ambitious for me I know, especially considering my teaching and freelance responsibilities, nevertheless, I intend to set the goal and meet it. In that regard I feel like I’m entering one of the most creative periods of my life in spite of the fact that in the beginning I feared I would run out of gags. Thankfully that hasn’t happened yet, quite the opposite in fact. So I hope you look forward to more laughs. Thanks again for your support and please pass the word. See you around the interwebs…

#webcomicschat - Sharing is Caring

This is an open call to my webcomics friends scattered across the inter webs; who’s up for some link sharing? The thought occurred to me the other day that because my strip posts weekly I have a number of days where I don’t have anything new to share with my followers. On twitter this is taken care of by Retweets, so whenever a comic tweet passes by I’ll usually retweet it. And I thank those that do this for me as well. What I’d like to do now is try something similar on Facebook. I have a Facebook fan page, but for whatever reason I hardly ever post on it. Except when a new comic comes out. What I’m suggesting is that if you offer to share my strip on Facebook I’ll share yours on my Super Siblings Facebook page. The only stipulation I have is that your comic MUST be kid friendly because my audience is all ages.

Here’s how I think it might work. My comic usually posts on Mondays if sometime during the rest of the week you post a link to http://supersilbingscomics.com on your Facebook page I’ll do the same for you. Shoot me an email at banshee(a)bansheecomics.com with your site and update schedule and I’ll compile a list of those playing along and I’ll do my best to post links to your comics throughout the week on my Facebook page http://facebook.com/supersiblings, What do you think?

Banshee in the Well

This is why I love Twitter. I get the chance to meet new creators in a way that never would have been possible before. I mean who would have thought I’d have the opportunity to chat with the great-great-niece of the J.R.R. Tolkien, Robin Lovejoy Tolkien. She’s the fantasy author of the new book Banshee in the Well. I highly recommend it to all my fantasy reading friends.

This fantasy adventure begins at Monastery Farm, Cumbria. Niall Carver, the farmer’s twelve-year-old son, hears a blood-curdling scream and tracks down the sound to an ancient well in the farmhouse garden. From the well he rescues a gothic-looking, dark-haired girl in leather boots and a short dress, her limbs dappled with black markings. The girl introduces herself as Sathra.

Niall carries out some internet research and confirms the truth, that Sathra has come through a time warp from the thirteenth century to the present day. At first Niall suspects she’s a banshee, though Sathra insists that she’s a dryad. The distinction is important because whilst banshees were evil, dryads were the exact opposite. What Niall doesn’t know is that, to return to her own time, Sathra the Banshee must restore her magical powers by sacrificing a boy her own age. Niall would fit the bill perfectly, though she has to lure him to a place of sacrifice, an ancient stone circle about a mile from the farm. Now believing Sathra is a dryad, Niall looks forward to a series of escapades of the kind that feature in his favourite books.

These adventures certainly follow, but all the while Sathra is plotting the dreaded sacrifice…

Illustration - John Carter of Mars

Here is an illustration inspired by “John Carter of Mars” a science fiction book series written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Burroughs is most know for creating and writing the Tarzan novels. This illustration is dedicated to the one hundred year anniversary of the original publication of the John Carter short stories. This poster shows the famed Civil War hero John Carter and the Martian princess Dejah Thoris. John Carter is also a major motion picture produced by Walt Disney Studios released in the spring of 2012.
