…and that’s how you commit your parents into buying you a pet. My boys were 3 and 2 and used this same tactic after our first dog ran away. We had an older dog that didn’t have much life left in her, so I just wanted her to run her course and then we’d just be a no pet family, I was good with that. Well my 3 year old got it in his head they were gonna get another dog, so he told his little brother that one day. So then that became, “Daddy said we could have a dog”, even when I argued the point to them they continued on. Finally the wife stopped me one night and said, “The boys really want another dog that they can play with.” Well I knew then that resistance was futile.
Jack just turned 1 a few months back, he’s a good dog.
Turning down a begging child is hard enough, turning your back on a cute little puppy is even harder.
