Today I learned of the tragic death of Sequential Art professor Jeremy Mullins. I did not know him but I knew of him and that he will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to the Mullins family and to the faculty, students and friends of SCAD (Savanah College of Art and Design). SCAD has one of the few art programs in the country dedicated to sequential art. Over the years I’ve gained a great respect for the school’s devotion to the art form; primarily because of the work of Professor Mullins. I have heard him express his enthusiasm for comics on many podcasts including Around Comics and Webcomics Weekly. I found a short article about his passing at SavannahNow.com.

If you live in the Detroit area there’s a kid’s comic convention this weekend. Best of luck to Dan Mishkin and all the other folks putting it together. I love the idea of supporting kid friendly comic fare, ironically I think it’s an under served market. Click here for a Newsarama article about the show.
